ANP

ANP is the oldest and most important school heads association and union in Italy.

The ANP National Association of public managers and high school professionals, formerly the National Association of Principals, established in 1987 in Rome, is the majority trade union organization of managers of school institutions. Since 2002 ANP has also welcomed highly professional teachers and since 2014 all categories of public managers have been able to join

The ANP has been, since its establishment, the most authoritative point of reference for the analysis and proposal regarding school autonomy and the modernization of the public administration system in Italy

The ANP represents and protects its members whom it listens to and supports every day.

Since December 2017 the National President has been Antonello Giannelli.

ANP is active in many different fields:

gives legal advice to its members
provides counselling in professional issues and insurance against professional risks
runs service training courses for heads and teachers
delivers initial training for teachers willing to candidate as school leaders
animates debates and diffuses information about school reforms
influences policy-makers in educational matters
runs and updates a website (www.anp.it) almost daily and sends a regular electronic newsletter to a selected mailing list of professionals in education
promotes leadership culture through researches, seminars, and conferences
leads negotiations with the public powers for improving the work conditions and the wages of the school leaders

ESHA’s History in Rome

Did you know the 2025 ESHA Conference in Rome will not be the first of its kind in the city? In fact, the ANP organized and hosted the 10th ESHA Conference “The Future with an Ancient Heart” in Rome. From November 2-4, 2006, school leaders and education professionals gathered to discuss the evolving challenges and innovations in leadership and education. This landmark event paved the way for future gatherings, showcasing Rome’s important role in ESHA’s history.
