Established as an independent institution in 1967, the “Federigo Enriques” was the first scientific high school in the 10th Municipality of Rome and has since played a key role in the educational and cultural development of its students. It maintains strong partnerships with local cultural centers, sports facilities, and universities, enriching both curricular and extracurricular activities.
The school promotes an education based on democratic values, equality, and constitutional principles, aiming to remove any barriers that might hinder its students’ social and cultural growth and ensuring equal access to education, impartiality, and support for students with special educational needs. For this reason, great care is taken in welcoming students and families, especially during the initial phases and in times of specific need.
The school focuses on enhancing students’ linguistic, mathematical, logical, and scientific skills, employing methodologies such as Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and promoting Erasmus programmes. It also promotes active citizenship, intercultural education, and the development of responsible behaviour based on respect for legality, sustainability, and cultural heritage.
Further objectives include fostering legal, economic, and financial literacy, promoting digital competencies, and encouraging critical media usage. The school enhances laboratory-based learning and practical activities to support hands-on skills.

The A. Manzoni Comprehensive Institute in Rome is a dynamic educational community serving around 1,000 students. Located in a middle-high socio-economic area, the school is also attentive to current demographic changes, responding to the growing presence of families facing economic hardship or lower cultural backgrounds. It actively identifies emerging needs—such as the increase in young families and working mothers—by offering extended school hours, extracurricular activities, and summer programs.
The Preschool and Primary School are housed in a rationalist-style building on Via Lusitania, designed by architect Ignazio Guidi, surrounded by gardens and courtyards. The Lower Secondary School, located on Via Sibari, features a tree-lined courtyard and a multipurpose sports field.
Inclusion and student well-being are central to the school’s mission. According to the national guidelines, our Institute has adopted specific protocols for welcoming students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) and non-native speakers who are usually supported with Italian as a second language courses. The school collaborates closely with local authorities and health services to support these efforts.
The surrounding area offers rich archaeological and natural resources, including the Appia Antica Regional Park and Parco degli Scipioni, which provide valuable educational and social opportunities.
The school promotes active citizenship and safety through anti-bullying and cyberbullying projects in collaboration with local police. In recent years, it has invested significantly in digital infrastructure and laboratory-based learning tools, including Digital Boards, hydroponic greenhouses, BeeBot robots, and Lego Education kits.
Through expressive arts teachers foster students’ creativity, self-expression and emotional awareness. At the end of the school year, students often present their work and stage performances at the school theater and it is a great celebration for the entire educational community.
IC A. Manzoni finally promotes an internalization plan, through intercultural didactics, English language improvement courses, language certification courses, CLIL projects and the participation in Erasmus+ programs in order to prepare students for global citizenship and a well-rounded education open to intercultural dialogue.
