Italy is a part of the European Union, and citizens of other EU countries can enter without a visa by showing their identity card. Non-EU citizens are required to have a passport.

Getting to Rome
Rome is served by two major airports:
- Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) – 26 km from the city center
- Giovanni Battista Pastine-Ciampino Airport (CIA) – 20 km from the city center
Transfers to Rome Marriott Park Hotel

By Air:
Fiumicino Airport (Closest Major Airport to Rome Marriott Park Hotel):
- Taxi: The service is available at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 arrival areas. The authorized Taxi vehicles are white in color, with a “TAXI” sign on the roof. The symbol of the Municipality of reference is fixed to the front doors and the license number is on the doors, on the back and inside the vehicle. There are fixed rates available for some areas, including Rome City Center (within the Aurelian Walls) – €55,00, Magliana – Parco dei Medici – €31,00, and Tiburtina Rail Station – €60,00. The taxi rates from Fiumicino Airport to Rome Marriott Park Hotel could be variable with prices ranging from €25 – €40, depending on time of day and traffic conditions. - Leonardo Express train: Departs every 15 minutes to Termini (downtown Rome) with total travel time of 32 minutes.
- Additionally, to reach the Rome Marriott Park Hotel, take the FL1 regional train toward Orte and get off at Muratella Station. From there, it’s a 20-minute walk to the hotel.
Ciampino Airport:
- Taxi: The service is available at the arrivals terminal. The authorized Taxi vehicles are white in color, with a “TAXI” sign on the roof. The symbol of the Municipality of reference is fixed to the front doors and the license number is on the doors, on the back and inside the vehicle. There are fixed rates available for some areas, including Rome City Center (within the Aurelian Walls) -€ 40,00, and Tiburtina Rail Station -€ 40,00. - Shuttle/ Public Transportation: Take a shuttle bus from the airport to Roma Termini, the main train station. The shuttle is available every 20 minutes. From Termini Station, take Metro Line B in the direction of Laurentina and get off at Magliana. Then, transfer to Bus 128 and ride to the Via della Magliana/Toyoda stop. By Train:
- From Termini Station (Central Railway Station): At the station, take Metro Line B in the direction of Laurentina and get off at Magliana. Then, transfer to Bus 128 and ride to the Via della Magliana/Toyoda stop. From there, it’s just a 2-minute walk. By Car:
- If you’re driving to Rome, you can reach Rome Marriott Park Hotel via the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA). Take Exit 30 toward Fiumicino/Centro/Parco dei Medici, merge onto Via della Magliana, then turn right onto Via Colonnello Tommaso Masala and continue to number 54 in the Parco dei Medici area.
Getting From Rome Marriott Park Hotel to the Centre of Rome
Shuttle: The Rome Marriott Park Hotel offers convenient shuttle services to and from the city centre. The designated pick-up point in central Rome is at Via Luigi Petroselli 50. Please note this is a guest service offered by the hotel, and is offered on a first come first serve basis, no advanced reservations are accepted. Taxi/Private Car Service: The hotel can arrange a taxi or car service for you upon request. If you prefer to book transportation independently, please refer to the “Helpful Apps” section below, for recommended taxi service applications.
Public Transportation: If you would like to travel to the city center using public transportation, you can take Bus 128 from the Toyoda bus stop (just a 1-minute walk from the hotel) in the direction of Basilica San Paolo. Disembark at the Magliana bus stop and enter the Magliana Metro Station (Line B). Take Metro Line B towards Laurentina and disembark at Colosseo Station, which is located in the heart of downtown Rome.
Public Transportation and Ticket Information
Rome has an extensive transportation system, including Metro Lines A, B, and C, as well as buses, trams and regional trains.
There are two daily fare options: Single-journey ticket: €1.50 — valid for 100 minutes across metro, buses, trams, and regional trains within Rome, and a daily pass: €7.00 — unlimited travel for one day. Tickets can be purchased at metro stations, authorized retailers, or via mobile apps. Multi-day passes are also available.

Driving in Italy
Rome has Congestion Charge Zones (ZTL) where access is restricted. Pay attention to signs like “Varco Attivo”.
Speed Limits: 50 km/h in urban areas, 130 km/h on motorways.
Parking: White lines (free), Blue lines (paid), Yellow (reserved).

Climate
October is mild and pleasant in Rome, with occasional rain. Pack layers and a light rain jacket.
Shopping & Pharmacy Hours
Shopping: Most stores open from 10 AM to 7 PM, with extended hours in tourist areas.
Pharmacies: Typically open Monday to Friday (9 AM – 7:30 PM). Some operate 24 hours.
Currency Exchanges & Payments
The currency of Italy is the Euro (€).
Banks and official financial institutions set exchange rates based on global market conditions. The Italian National Bank (Banca D’Italia) provides up-to-date information on the Euro’s exchange rate against major currencies.
Currency Exchange Offices typically offer less favorable rates because they add service charges or margins on top of the market rate.
When withdrawing cash from ATMs, be aware that international withdrawal fees may apply, making the overall cost of exchanging money higher.
Most places accept credit cards, but small shops may prefer cash.
